Is your NIR calibration safe to trust? Check it in two minutes.
Paste your laboratory values and your model's predictions. Get bias, SEP, RMSEP, slope, R² and RPD in your browser. Free, no sign-up, and nothing leaves your computer.
Illustrative spectrum, not measured data. Each band comes from a bond vibrating in the sample.
Paste your reference and predicted values
Use samples your model has never seen. One pair per line: the laboratory value, then the model's prediction.
Next step: all the free calculators, including laboratory error from blind duplicates.
What each number tells you
A single R² can look fine while the model is biased or compressed. Look at all six together, on samples the model did not use to learn.
| Statistic | The question it answers |
|---|---|
| Bias | Do predictions run high or low on average? |
| SEP | How scattered are the errors once the bias is removed? |
| RMSEP | How large is the error overall, in the units you report? |
| Slope | Are predictions squeezed or stretched compared with the lab values? |
| R² | How much of the variation in the lab values does the model follow? |
| RPD | How big is the error compared with the natural spread of your samples? |

The Lab engine validated a mango dry-matter calibration on an unseen season: preprocessing choices, components, prediction error and outliers. Same files, same numbers, every time.
From a quick check to a calibration you can defend
- Check today. The free calculators run in your browser.
- Learn the method. The SpectroScience NIR course: 32 lessons, self-paced, $99, lifetime access.
- Join the Lab waitlist. The browser lab for PLS calibration is in early access and not open to the public yet. SpectroScience students hear first.
Common questions
Do I have to upload my spectra?
No. The free calculators take pairs of reference and predicted values and run in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Is it free?
Yes. The calculators and the sample report are free and need no sign-up.
Can I use the full Lab today?
Not yet. The Lab is in early access and is not open to the public. Join the waitlist below; we write once, when it opens, and we do not promise a date.
How do I learn to build a calibration?
The SpectroScience NIR spectroscopy course covers calibration, PLS regression, RMSEP, R² and model validation in 32 lessons.
Be first when the Lab opens
SpectroScience course students hear first; then everyone on the list. We write once, when it opens, and we do not promise a date.
Get the sample validation report as a PDF
Every section of the Demo above, as a printable PDF, sent to an address you can open. Add what you measure if you want a place in the pilot for a run on it.
We check that the address can receive mail before anything is sent; temporary inboxes are refused. One email, no account. The engines are not self-serve yet, so a run on your own subject is a pilot place, not an instant report.
